Position Purpose: Student Support Specialist is a full time position with duties supporting the Deans office in the areas of student supervision, safety, health & wellness and logistics during the school day.

- Conduct daily monitoring of students throughout the school day in hallways, rest-rooms and common areas outside the classrooms to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Lead recess supervision.
- Provide logistical oversight for and supervision of student arrivals and departures. May include required health screenings, directing the flow of traffic and other tasks as directed.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding school and traffic logistics.
- Provide dismissal support by organizing carpool lines, managing faculty on duty, with an emphasis on safety.
- Maintain the P-8 supply of walkie-talkies and train/support P-8 faculty and staff in their correct use.
- Represent the P-8 on required school safety committees. Support necessary safety drills on campus (fire, earthquake, etc.).
- Report student compliance issues to the Deans of Students and Assistant Principal of Student Life, as needed.
- Be a general resource to students and faculty.
- Comply with laws and regulations regarding confidentiality and privacy of information collected.
- Assist the Office Staff with light clerical work, as needed
- Occasionally, chaperone after school activities, on evenings/weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and professional behavior based in it including a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Experience in independent schools preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Good role model with demonstrated excellent ethics consistent with Sacred Heart Schools Goals and Criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully encourage and collaborate with a broad and diverse school community.
- Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful while solving problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate quickly, clearly and effectively in English is required; additional skills in Spanish strongly preferred.
- Strong computer/tech skills using Word, Excel, required. Additional experience with Magnus strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Works in a very busy and sometimes stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination including but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption.
- May occasionally work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to comfortably and safely move about the classroom and over the 64-acre campus.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment and intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold typical to the Mid-Peninsula in the Bay Area.
- Available and willing to attend and work on overnight trips, on occasion.
- Ability and willingness to shift work schedule as needed and work weekends and evenings upon request.
- Ability and willingness to follow all PPE requirements.
