athematics) Lab Facilitator will implement curriculum provided by teachers for authentic, project-based and experiential learning opportunities for our K-5 students. Candidates will be expected to reach learners of all levels and facilitate activities that promote creativity and problem-solving. It is preferred that candidates have experience working with students in a diverse learning context and are familiar with project-based curriculum. The STEAM Lab Facilitator will perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students or parents. The facilitator will serve in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

STEAM Lab Specific Functions __
  • Reinforces classroom learning by making connections to math, science and literacy standards.
  • Facilitates multiple learning stations in a single class.
  • Assists teachers with delivering STEAM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Attends staff meetings, and may serve on building-level and district wide committees.
  • Participates in professional growth and development and stays abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, and district provided professional development.
General Functions __
  • Provides extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities.
  • Tutors and assists students individually or in small groups in order to help students master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Assists with the implementation of the NLRSD Desegregation Plan.
  • Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, schoolyards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
  • Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to assess progress.
  • Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
  • Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
  • Organizes and labels materials and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills.
  • Distributes tests and homework assignments, and collects them when they are completed.
  • Types, files, and duplicates materials.
  • Distributes teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students.
  • Uses computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
  • Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.
  • Carries out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists.
  • Provides disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.
  • Assists in bus loading and unloading.
  • Takes class attendance, and maintains attendance records.
  • Grades homework and tests, and computes and records results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices.
  • Organizes and supervises games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
  • Prepares lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas, and submits outlines to teachers for review.
  • Maintains computers in classrooms and laboratories, and assists students with hardware and software use.
  • Participates in teacher-parent conferences regarding students' progress or problems.
  • Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs.
  • Conducts demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handicrafts.
  • Requisitions and stocks teaching materials and supplies.
  • Monitors classroom viewing of live or recorded courses transmitted by communication satellites.
  • Operates and maintains audiovisual equipment.
  • Laminates teaching materials to increase their durability under repeated use.
  • Assists librarians in school libraries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES


Education:
Minimum of a High School Diploma and either 60-hours of college credit or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Praxis Exam

Experience:
Prefer experience with project-based learning, use of Google Classroom and/or Classroom for Apple, and assisting students with computers, iPads, laptops, and other applicable technology; Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning also preferred.

Computer Skills:
Effectively uses Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, iPads, Chrome Books, and other technology for project-based learning

Certificates & Licenses: None required, but a teaching or teaching-related certificate or license is beneficial

Other Requirements:
Successful completion of Arkansas State Police/FBI and Child Maltreatment background checks
