POSITION OVERVIEW:

The KIPP DC recruitment team works to ensure that talented staff members join KIPP DC. The Associate Director of Recruitment & Outreach is a newly formed position that will design and execute outreach strategies to source talented and diverse staff members to KIPP DC. The Associate Director of Recruitment & Outreach will focus on growing the talent funnel by connecting prospective candidates' career aspirations with KIPP DC's value proposition. The Associate Director of Recruitment & Outreach is an exempt position and will report to the Senior Director of Recruitment.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership on the recruitment team
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Recruitment, other recruitment team leaders, and other talent team leaders on larger talent initiatives, including candidate experience throughout recruitment, selection, and onboarding
  • Represent outreach and pipeline building work and needs to other talent leaders
  • Lead by example to create and reinforce positive and productive team culture

Outreach Planning and Strategy
  • Working with the Senior Director of Recruitment, design a three-year-long outreach plan that systematically builds a short- and long-term talent pipeline for all instructional (Lead Teacher and Capital Teaching Residency) roles at KIPP DC
  • Design and execute opportunities for candidates to learn more about KIPP DC and think about how KIPP DC's value proposition aligns with their personal career goals (ie, host professional development sessions, attend career fairs, design marketing to attract a wider candidate pool)
  • Communicate outreach strategy, data, status updates, and goals to the recruitment team
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to create compelling branded materials
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications Team and other talent teams to strengthen KIPP DC's value proposition to incentivize prospects to choose KIPP DC
  • Build relationships with partner organizations to expand the talent pool locally and nationally
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and the recruitment team to assess short and long-term talent needs and trends

People Management
  • Manages Recruitment & Outreach Manager, including setting goals, holding team members accountable, supporting team members, and providing professional development
  • Coach and support KIPP DC staff members (teachers, senior leaders, etc.) to expand awareness of KIPP DC and its staff value proposition to new sources of talent for the organization.

Systems Creation and Management
  • Design systems and processes to ensure that the recruitment team's efforts are maximized as KIPP DC grows to scale
  • Oversee management of the recruitment team's cultivation system in SmartRecruiters to track outreach attendance, response rates, and ensure data fidelity
  • Build and sustain systems and processes that lead to more efficient sourcing of candidates
  • Implement complex projects to support recruitment efforts, for example, the referral bonus program
  • Oversee compilation, analysis and reporting of outreach data to drive action, improvements and investment by the team
  • Responsibly manage the recruitment budget to ensure KIPP DC dollars are used well to maximize their impact

Writing and Communications
  • Oversee email campaigns for prospects to promote upcoming opportunities and events within the KIPP DC network
  • Working with the Brand Team, design and execute strong social media campaigns
  • Share regular announcements of opportunities to partner organizations
  • Manage calendar of outreach events and share with stakeholders


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 5 years of recruitment, marketing, or talent management experience strongly preferred
  • Previous teaching experience or experience working in K-12 schools required
  • Previous people management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading outreach and pipeline building recruitment strategies with proven results
  • Ability to translate marketing and talent funnel data into actionable insights
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to take initiative, receive feedback, and seek out creative ideas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write compelling messages to a variety of audiences
  • Successful track record of collaboratively working with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external and strong skills in influencing and communication
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to create systems for broad outreach while maintaining personal touch with individuals
  • Able to track and execute many complex and urgent tasks and processes simultaneously for different projects
  • Strong cultural competency skills, including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission and to advancing its anti-racist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families
  • Comfort with working in a fast-paced, nonprofit environment along with an outstanding ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage and execute projects at a high level

KIPP DC requires all staff to provide proof that they are up to date on their COVID-19 vaccine (meaning they have received a full course of a COVID vaccine and receive a booster, when they are eligible) or obtain approval for exemption due to medical or religious reasons before beginning employment.
