Job Details

St. Mary Catholic School, a Pre-K through 8th grade school, located in historic Hagerstown, MD is seeking a full time science teacher for Middle School, grades 5-8 for the 2022-2023 school year. The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge and communication of subject matter competency to middle school students. The teacher will be responsible for all science lessons and labs as well as be a middle school homeroom teacher, and possibly a section of mathematics. A willingness to commit to and collaborate on behalf of student growth and success is essential.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans and labs consistent with curriculum guidelines
  • Provide grade appropriate instructional program within the context of the Archdiocesan Science Curriculum
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement, updating PowerSchool weekly
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with a concentration in science
  • Possession of, or willingness obtain, MSDE certification
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of St. Mary Catholic School.
