Bishop Fenwick High School is looking for a full-time, talented, passionate, reflective, and inspiring English and AP English Literature and Composition teacher, who is committed to professional development and sharing best practices with colleagues, and who will build a good rapport with students and invest themselves fully in the community.
Bishop Fenwick is a Catholic, academically rigorous, and personally supportive co-educational college preparatory school located in Peabody, MA. Dedicated to creating an environment where all students can seek and achieve excellence intellectually, creatively, physically, morally, and spiritually, Bishop Fenwick honors the whole person. Teaching Responsibilities:
• 5 sections of English from English I to AP English Literature and Composition
• Design lesson planning that is thoughtful and intentional, design a classroom experience that is engaging, challenging, encourages student voice, and promotes active learning
• Communicate effectively, positively, and consistently with students and families to provide feedback on student progress throughout the year
• Create, develop, amend, and assess curricula, contents, assessments, and teaching methods as necessary to foster a student-centered learning environment
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work collegially and collaboratively, and a willingness to go the proverbial extra mile for students
• Have a strong knowledge of differentiated instructional strategies, with a focus on emphasizing student strengths and developing essential skills

Additional responsibilities include:
• Advising a club or activity
• Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including, but not limited to, department, committee, and grade-level meetings
• Participating in the life of the Fenwick by attending community events, being present for major school functions, and supporting the overall mission and culture of the School

The discussion-based classroom and the Harkness method are at the heart of Fenwick's English program. The curriculum encompasses both traditional and modern literary works, and it emphasizes critical thinking and reading alongside analytical and creative writing. Thus we seek candidates who convey passion for a diversity of literature and dedication to the writing process, who are comfortable with new classroom technologies as appropriate.The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; a passion for teaching and learning; enthusiasm for working with students, families and colleagues; a positive attitude; and a growth mindset. She or he will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; write well; and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. A degree in English or similar field preferred.
