To assist as may be required and assigned by Food Service Director for the purpose of supporting and completion of work activities.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Ability to perform single technical tasks with an occasional need to upgrade skills due to changing job conditions

Working Conditions

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individual assignments this position performs all or a combination of several of the following duties:
  • Assist others in the preparation of lunches
  • Assist cook as needed
  • Serve proper portions food to student customers and staff as directed
  • Assist in the daily clean up of the kitchen and service areas as directed for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary conditions
  • Replenish food, condiments, and supplies during meal service periods for the purpose of ensuring availability of items
  • Put away and rotate frozen, refrigerated, and dry food & supplies
  • Organize and clean refrigerator and dry storage areas
  • Operate commercial oven and dishwasher
  • Report immediately any problems or accidents occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria premises
  • Cover other positions when needed
  • Log meals served and returned for the purpose of meeting mandated
    requirements and ensuring adequate nutrition
Terms of Employment
  • 5.25 hours per day
  • Work Hours 6:45a - 1:00p
  • 191 Calendar (181 work days / 10 holidays)
  • Current Food Handlers Card
  • Criminal history clearance/fingerprinting (cost to applicant waived if currently in the OSPI database showing clearance within the last two years)
  • COVID 19 vaccination or approved YCS exemption
  • Performance of this job will be evaluated at least once annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of employees
