TITLE : School Psychologist -

1.0 FTE

Continuing Position for 2022-2023 School Year

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Based on collective bargaining between the Tumwater Education Association and Tumwater School District, the District will grant up to ten (10) years of relevant experience for placement on the salary schedule, pending experience verifications. This experience includes private and public sector experience outside of education, in accordance with WAC 392-121-264 (f)I.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : ESA certification at initial or continuing level in school psychology; participation in a supervised practice in both counseling and school psychology; criminal justice background clearance and the ability to verify Covid Vaccination or appropriate exemption.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct psychological assessments, which include summative and formative analyses
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of children, including appropriate learning activities, behavioral expectations and transition planning
  • Case manage evaluations/re-evaluations so that recommendations can drive appropriate goal writing
  • Consult with parents and private and public practitioners regarding assessment findings and students' progress
  • Work constructively with team members, special education teachers, principals, and other staff specialists
  • Assist teams with designing and implementing learning programs, including but not limited to, positive/aversive behavior plans, transition planning and social/emotional planning
  • Demonstrate awareness of current psychological techniques, test instruments assessment procedures, and learning materials
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules affecting students with disabilities
  • Assist with the development of specific instructional strategies or programs for students in need of special assistance within the classroom
  • Provide counseling/consultation for individuals and groups, students, and parents
  • Willingness to benefit from the supervision and evaluation program, participate in self-improvement plans, and to update professional growth
  • Working knowledge of the Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered Systems of Support model and data driven decision making
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willing to be trained in restraint and isolation practices
DESIRED BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with general areas of elementary and secondary curriculum and school organization
  • Experience using principles of behavior modification, conducting test administrations and interpretation
  • Knowledge of and/or experience related to State-mandated skills and testing
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws regarding education for the handicapped
  • Experience working with children of various handicapping conditions, designing appropriate school programs, and developing strategies for program modification
  • Experience working with positive behavior intervention and/or de-escalation/restraint training
  • Familiarity with Social Emotional Learning and Trauma Informed Practices

SCHEDULE: District calendar plus additional days and voluntary employment orientation
