Job Summary

The Eatonville School District is accepting applications for the position of Director of Teaching and Learning. The Director of Teaching and Learning serves as a productive, innovative and supportive member of the Superintendent's cabinet in the leadership of the organization. Core duties include supporting and evaluating Principals as well as providing leadership for the district's curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology programs.

  • Bring proven expertise in fiscal management including budget development, grant writing and management;

  • Possess experience implementing equity-oriented policies and practices;
  • Have the full menu of skills, knowledge and experience to address the administrative requirements of the position.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Collaborating with the Superintendent, Directors, Principals and other district and site staff to develop and implement programs designed to ensure a high level of student achievement;
  • Providing support to district and school leadership teams for continuous improvement;
  • Assisting Principals with implementation of effective instructional practices;
  • Developing, planning and/or leading administrative staff development;
  • Assisting in analyzing the district's staff development needs for the purpose of identifying relevant issues and recommending/implementing an action plan that strengthens highly effective teaching practices;
  • Analyzing and interpreting the results of district and state assessments, determining trends and making recommendations to the Superintendent, Principals and staff;
  • Working with district staff to establish a comprehensive professional development program aligned with district goals;
  • Implementing and maintaining the district-wide school improvement process;
  • Developing a system-wide plan for curriculum study and improvement consistent with the district vision, goals and policies;
  • Working with Principals and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade level and department meetings in order to effect horizontal and vertical integration and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district;
  • Directing, supervising and evaluating the K-12 curriculum development and assessment processes;
  • Coordinating the development of new and revised curriculum for the district. Organizing and reviewing the results of curriculum committees, ensuring results are consistent with district objectives;
  • Interpreting the present curriculum and proposed curriculum changes to the board, the administration, the staff and the general public;
  • Monitoring textbook and supplementary materials selection used in educational programs in the district;
  • Continuing implementation of Common Core State Standards, the 5D Instructional Framework and other state and federal programs;
  • Demonstrating fiscal responsibility through developing, managing and monitoring teaching and learning budgets;
  • Preparing and monitoring local, state, and federal projects, reports, and budgets;
  • Monitoring compliance, planning and implementation Highly Capable Program requirements, as well as other federal and state programs;
  • Providing oversight to ensure compliance with the state's accountability system and administrative oversight for the various state and federal grants related to all instructional levels;
  • Providing leadership for the district's alternative and learning support programs;
  • Assisting and collaborating with the Superintendent in the evaluation of district administrators
  • Maintaining and fostering positive relationships with the district employee groups, ESDs, OSPI, other school districts and community-based organizations;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Information : Terms of Employment: 260 days per year with 25 vacation days

Qualifications : Qualifications
- Master's Degree in School Leadership or a related field;
- Principal and/ or Program Administrator Certification required; Superintendent Certification preferred;
- Five years of successful experience as a school and/or central office administrator;
- Experience successfully supervising and evaluating administrators;
- Experience with the Washington State Leadership Framework preferred;
- Experience in federal and state grant management, staff development, budget development, budget management, program management, curriculum development, teaching and special services (including UDL);
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
