Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction and Services, the Manager of Specialized Instruction and Services will be responsible for the administration and supervision of educational programs and specialized instruction and services at the High School Level. The manager will collaborate and provide leadership in the development, implementation and administration of progressive special education programs. In addition, this individual will provide focus upon efforts to dramatically reduce the achievement gap between students with disabilities and general education students through extensive collaboration across the Division of Teaching and Learning.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience as a special education teacher at the high school level for at least 3 years
- Administrator of Special Education PK-12 Certificate or Building Administrator with Special Education Teacher Certificate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDSplemental Information
- Provides instructional leadership to high school sites in the development of quality specialized instruction and services.
- Collaborates with school and district level staff to continuously improve the academic achievement of students with disabilities.
- Plans and supports professional development for educators at the secondary level regarding instructional programs and supports for students with disabilities.
- Collaborates with district program managers, collaborative coaches, and intervention specialists.
- Analyzes data and share the analysis to assist secondary educators in implementing age/grade appropriate programs and services for students with disabilities.
- Integrates research-based instructional programs and strategies for students with disabilities that align with the district's guaranteed and viable curriculum.
- Plans, designs, and implements action plans related to state performance plan indicators, as well as, prepares documents and reports related to state and federal requirements and compliance reporting.
- Provides guidance and support to school sites in the areas of compliance with state and federal law and district procedures. This includes new referrals, IEP meetings, 3 year evaluations, manifestation determination, and ESY
- Develops a staffing plan for secondary special education programming based on student needs on an annual basis.
- Assists in the hiring and recruiting of special education educators and staff.
- Provides academic support, communication, and interventions for students with disabilities and their families.
- Plans and directly monitors transition services and programs to enable students with disabilities to achieve goals.
- Plans and develops programming for Multilingual Learners with disabilities.
- Directs, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
- Coaches intervention specialists and/or teams with a focus on special education compliance and specialized instruction.
- Experience with curriculum/instructional design and adaptive technologies.
- Knowledge of and versed in federal, state and local policies, rules, laws, regulations, and legislation pertaining to special education and nonpublic schools.
- Knowledge of the general education curriculum, program of study, alternate assessment, best practices for instruction for students with disabilities, and special education eligibilities, supports and services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other offices, school staff, parents, and community members.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes, build consensus and resolve conflict.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the developmental supports and strategies utilized to meet the needs of Multilingual Learners with disabilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including successful facilitation of diverse groups.
- Must have the knowledge and skills to build positive relationships with people from diverse populations.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of PPSD and the relevance of job functions to that mission and vision.

- Must possess and consistently model excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
