Embracing Diversity: Driving Success
The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a Middle School Dean of Students for the 2022-23 school year. Under the direction of the principal or their designee, the Dean of Students will serve as a member of the middle school administrative team to cultivate a positive, engaging, and inclusive school environment. The Dean will have a strong understanding of the developmental stages of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students and supports the whole student experience with a focus on academics, attendance, social-emotional skill-building and character development. The Dean will be an integral part of the day-to-day operations of the school and will play an instrumental role in establishing and reinforcing high expectations for positive student behaviors. The role of the Dean will involve building strong relationships, working closely with students, faculty, and parents and community partners in order to develop and maintain a positive school culture and create a rewarding middle school experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated commitment to building empathy and empowering students to engage across differences.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, which create and ensure a balance in managing the responsibilities of the role.
Excellent communication skills while upholding confidentiality. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a warm, genuine, and engaging demeanor.
Ability to mediate conflict and multi-task.
Experience with diverse learners.
Experience with developing and monitoring student success plans
Experience building systems and implementing programs that support the development of strong school and home partnerships.
Experience with implementing restorative practices and positive behavior support systems.
Other duties as assigned by the principal
NYS School Building Leader Certification is required at the time of application.
