Qualifications Required: Candidate must possess a Master's degree in Special Education with current NYS teaching certification OR Consideration may also be given to School Psychologist and/or School Social workers with a strong background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA); OR Meet the Civil Service Qualifications; AND be Licensed in New York State as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred OR seeking/enrolled in required coursework to obtain the certification.
Qualifications Desired:
A minimum of three years experience in teaching and/or providing services to students with autism or other special needs including educational services (e.g., development, implementation and evaluation of student programs, skill assessment, curriculum support/design, progress monitoring and problem solving) and behavior services (e.g., functional assessment, development and implementation of function based treatment plans, treatment evaluation, crisis intervention). Have an advanced understanding of the principles and instructional strategies based on ABA, exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and an ability to work in teams, and have effective and competent oral and written communication skills.
