Working closely with stakeholders across the science team, the Curriculum Developer will write teacher and student facing materials (teacher guide and student edition) for a K-5 science program, including lessons and embedded assessments. The Curriculum Developer will be responsible for adhering to a style guide and a set of constraints (word counts, using a set of defined activities, adopting a given pedagogical model and unit design, etc.). The Curriculum Developer will report to the Senior Managing Editor, Science.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of grade band key documents, including style guides, lesson templates, sample modules, etc.
- Write assigned lessons and assessments while adhering to a given style guide and assorted list of constraints - including time allocated to write.
- Receive feedback from various stakeholders and revise lessons/assessments accordingly, all while maintaining an open mind and an eagerness to understand the intent of the reviewers' feedback.
- Plan and write with a keen eye for scientific accuracy, consistency, style, and state standards coherence.
- Contribute to team meetings to collaborate, review other Curriculum Developer's work, and brainstorm ideas.
- Participate in workshops with Amplify's design team.
- Peer-edit and review print proofs.
- Master's degree in education or equivalent
- 3+ years of instructional design experience
- 3+ years teaching experience in a formal classroom environment within K-8 grade range
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to work harmoniously with everyone on the curriculum team, including writers, reviewers, designers, managers, and vendors
- Knowledge of K-5 science standards
- Proficiency in using digital tools for science learning
- Experience working with an education publishing company
- Bachelor's degree in science
- Familiarity and proficiency with non-NGSS science state standards as well as literacy and math standards
- Proven experience working with students of diverse levels of preparation and background or creative use of online media in adapting science education materials.
