BILINGUAL (Spanish) Reading Tutor
Johnson House Elementary School
25 hours per week @ $32.55 /hour
Responsibilities:
- This position will provide explicit reading instruction for Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of reading and writing intervention strategies is required
- Reading endorsement preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to English and Spanish language acquisition
- Designs lessons that provide opportunity for problem-solving creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems.
- Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students.
- Understands and complies with the policies, rules, and regulations regarding multilingual learners. Advocates for the program needs that are required to meet the learning needs of multilingual learners
- Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster student self-discipline and positive relationships among students.
- Administers specialized multilingual learner assessments.
- Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to district/school curriculum policies and other planned goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to collaborate and work well with faculty, staff and administration to achieve goals
- Demonstrates ability to use technology as a tool for improving student learning.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
- Other duties may be assigned by the building principal, assistant principal and/or reading specialist
• Required certification: Bilingual (009); Teaching English to Speakers of Other Lang. (TESOL), PK-12 (111); Master's degree preferred
• Must be fluent in Spanish
