GENERAL STATEMENT
The Stratford Public School District will be providing a Summer Learning Academy for students currently in grades K-6. There will be 2 sessions of a two-week in-person learning program. Participating students will be placed in one of the two sessions. Attendance for all 8 days of the session is required to maximize productivity. The academy's focus will be to provide the needed extended learning time for students rising from grades K-6. The two-week program will give students an additional 28 hours of learning focused on Foundational Reading (K-3)/Intensive Writing Writing Strategies (3-6), Math Strategies (K-3)/Math Fluency (3-6), Social-Emotional Learning, and hands-on experiences.
The Lead Teacher will assist On-Site Facilitators with any administrative office tasks and/or clerical duties as needed as well as provide classroom instruction in the event of a teacher absence. Additionally, the Lead Teacher will support classrooms in sharing professional best practices, preparing the learning environment, and providing end of session(s) feedback.
The Lead Teacher will be responsible for coordinating materials and will receive teacher pay and an additional $500 stipend. Lead Teachers are expected to assist with the facilitation and/or support teachers in the two 4 hour days prior to program start in order to review program overview/expectations, plan, organize, and prepare materials. The Lead Teacher will work from 8:00-12:30 during the four weeks (both two-week sessions) and is expected to meet for two 4 hour days prior to the program starting in order to receive program overview/expectations, professional development, plan, organize and prepare materials. Total working days = 18 days (16 student contact days plus 2 PD days).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist On-Site Facilitators with any administrative office tasks and/or clerical duties as needed
Provide classroom supervision as needed
Attend each session in a timely, responsible, and cooperative manner
Assist teachers with planning instruction from the Reading/Writing/Math Curriculum of Stratford Public Schools
Collaborate with teachers, On-Site Facilitator, and parents regarding students' progress
Organize and analyze ongoing assessment data of students and develop a system of data collection
Substitute if needed in a classroom
- Current Connecticut teaching certification
092 Certification or Prior summer supervisory experience preferred
Successful reading/writing/math experience in elementary grades
Solid understanding of the Common Core State Standards (Reading and Math), STEM education, and Stratford's SEL curriculum
Solid classroom management
The salary for this position is $32.99 an hour plus a $500.00 stipend.
