    Salary Range: $113,504 - $158,905

    Qualifications:
    1. An appropriate valid and current Pennsylvania Instructional II Certificate and Principal Certificate or the ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Principal Certificate.
    2. Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university.
    3. Master's degree in educational leadership, educational supervision, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
    4. Five years or more progressive academic experience as a teacher and school administrator, inclusive of a successful experience as an elementary principal.
    5. Demonstrated results improving academic outcomes for students through the effective leadership of teams and individuals, managing change, and initiating key learning improvements.
    6. Hold or be able to obtain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
    7. Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).
    8. Such additional modification or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Summary: The Executive Director for Elementary Schools West (EDESW) provides leadership and support to assigned elementary schools to build the capacity of principals and improve the conditions of teaching and learning in elementary schools. The EDESW will make decisions to address day-to-day academic and operational issues and be responsible for ensuring the district's mission and goals are achieved across elementary schools in the East Division. EDESW will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure consistency of practice and equitable use of resources. Under the supervision of the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools, the EDESW will:
    • ensure the creation, implementation, and monitoring of assigned elementary school strategic and school improvement plans are in alignment with the district's mission, vision, and strategic plan
    • optimize resources for assigned elementary school communities to achieve the district's mission, vision, and strategic plan
    • supervise, coach, and mentor principals of assigned elementary schools
    • communicate policies, practices, procedures, and other relevant information to the leadership of assigned elementary schools
    • provide effective crisis and issue management consultation
    • provide effective problem-solving consultation
    • ensure effective plans for and implementation of professional development for staff in assigned elementary schools.

    The Executive Director for Elementary Schools West serves as a liaison to the Board of Education, community groups, parents, departments, schools, and the Board's Education Committee. The Executive Director for Elementary Schools West collaborates to research, communicate, and implement short-term and long-term educational planning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Coach, mentor, advise, and support elementary principals in goal setting, planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of action plans that will guide them to meet their instructional leadership objectives and for their schools to meet performance targets.
    2. Plan and lead high quality and relevant learning experiences for elementary principals and assistant principals to guide the implementation of effective instructional programs.
    3. Conduct regular informal classroom walk-throughs to provide feedback on successful instructional leadership practices, such as effective management of instructional staff, analysis of data, delivery of classroom instruction, classroom management, use of data, and establishment of school culture.
    4. Attend school meetings and events to foster a culture of engagement with staff, families, and community.
    5. Build the instructional leadership capacity of principals with particular focus on instruction, data analysis, aligned interventions, community, culture, equitable student outcomes, and equitable allocation of resources.
    6. Create a culture of inquiry, mutual accountability, problem solving, and creativity among the West Division elementary principals.
    7. Visit schools on a regular basis to monitor day-to-day operations, instructional practices, and school culture.
    8. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
    9. Represent the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools at meetings and events as needed.
    10. Ensure that the school's data and evidenced based best practices support the continuous improvement and school improvement plans of assigned schools.
    11. Collaborate with the Office of Curriculum and Educator Supports and the Office of Student and School Supports, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure alignment of activities related to equitable student learning, equitable allocation of resources, and team competencies across East Division schools.
    12. Collaborate with District departments and offices to ensure optimal and equitable resources are available to support assigned elementary schools.
    13. Collaborate with the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools to develop the school budgets.
    14. Review and approve site-based professional learning plans for assigned elementary schools.
    15. Ensure integration and use of technology by assigned elementary schools.
    16. Interpret District policies and regulations for the school leaders.
    17. Evaluate the performance of principals in assigned elementary schools and use the results to improve their leadership capacity, instructional support effectiveness, and development of positive school cultures.
    18. Support the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools with the process of screening elementary school administrative applicants, identifying interview panel members, conducting interviews with selected applicants, and making candidate recommendations.
    19. Investigate and respond to parent and stakeholder concerns involving assigned elementary schools.
    20. Allocate school positions based on guidelines, ratios, and formulas created by the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools in collaboration with the Office of Talent and Team experience based on data and evidenced best practices.
    21. Monitor class size ratios and monitor the school ratios for assigned elementary schools.
    22.Collaborate with the school principals to develop, monitor, and oversee school budgets.
    23. Collaborate with the school principals to develop, monitor, and oversee school grant budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director of Grants and Advancements.
    24. Assist the Senior Executive Director, Elementary Schools with oversight of West Division elementary school budgets.
    25. Plan, coordinate, and implement West Division professional development activities for principals and assistant principals.
    26. Monitor and approve leave requests from principals of assigned schools and approve in city and out-of-city travel expenses for payment.
    27. Assist in revising/updating school district policies, regulations, procedures, and practices related to elementary schools.
    28. Provide information as requested for state reports.
    29. Perform other duties as assigned.
