    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) model, combines the best of high school, college and the professional world. P-TECH is a high school plus two years, grades 9 to 14. Within this six-year timeframe, students earn not only a high school diploma, but also an Associate in Applied Science degree, from Norwalk Community College. Graduates will have the skills and experience to step into well-paying jobs in the Information Technology (IT) industry.

    The Program Coordinator must possess strong communication skills and have experience in public speaking, especially with a wide diversity of audiences. They also must also be able to operate standard business software such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. They must also be able and willing to learn and adapt to new technology and software as it emerges in the field. Strong analytic and problem solving skills are a huge plus. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism and a record of delivering the highest quality work. This position requires a proven ability to plan individual work goals in order to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner, the ability to closely monitor progress towards these goals, and the ability to take appropriate remedial action when necessary. Applicants should possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Support the Academy Director with the planning, organizing, or coordination of the activities required to effectively manage the educational program
    • Plan, orchestrate, and attend programmatic special events, including but not limited to student workshops, college visits, student award ceremonies, conferences and community service days
    • Coordinate freshman summer bridge program (application process, enrollment, and completion)
    • Develop and maintain admissions and enrollment database
    • Create, maintain, and disseminate marketing materials and success stories
    • Manage day-to-day interactions with administrators, community partners, and key stakeholders
    • Gather, maintain, analyze, and submit frequent statistical data and reports related to high school program activities for the staff, Academy Director, and Board of Education; prepare comprehensive quarterly reports of program activities and progress
    • Monitor, organize, and maintain up-to-date student files and databases
    • Collaborate with transportation director to arrange busing for all programs
    • Ensure the recognition of students and program staff through appropriate venues and opportunities
    • Updating transcripts upon completion of college courses
    • Coordinate and attend IBM mentor events, site visits, industry-related shadow opportunities
    • Oversee coordination of mentoring program in conjunction with industry liaison
    • Attend monthly steering committee meetings and provide updates as required

    College Program:
    • Schedule annual placement testing (Accuplacer) for all students and track scoring to be used for college course registration
    • Develop transportation schedule and arrange transportation to and from college
    • Assist in coordination of annual college tour
    • Coordinate summer college program application process
    • Develop and maintain activities to ensure seamless transition to Norwalk Community College

    Communication:
    • Represent the program to school personnel, professional organizations, educators, funders, volunteers, and the public
    • Monitor program calendar for progress toward program milestones, event implementation, and on-time task completion
    • Coordinate with the appropriate staff member(s) to order, maintain, publish, and inventory high school program supplies
    • Maintain excellent working relationships with, and serve as a liaison between Norwalk Community College staff members, Norwalk Public School District, and students and families.
    • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with school personnel, exhibiting courtesy in all transactions, and provide frequent reports on the status of each students' activities and progress.

    Professional Responsibility:
    • Coordinate project teams on the following subjects, including but not limited to: program events, student communications, financial aid and literacy, and parent services

    Other:
    • Work with Academy Director to maintain tight budgetary controls, ensuring that program expenditures do not exceed budgeted levels
    • Assist with special projects as assigned


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    This position requires a minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited, academically-recognized four-year college or university.
    Candidate must possess human relations skills to work effectively with students, parents, school administrators and school staff and the ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of people.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience with 9-14 P-Tech model.
