The Director of Development position represents an amazing opportunity for an energetic, charismatic professional who can commit to building philanthropic support to fuel the mission of a long-standing not-for-profit co-educational, Catholic school. St. John the Baptist School is a community of people who live by our mission, creating a family that stretches through 128 years of our operation. We are in need of a dynamic person who can assist us in significant development work for existing needs and future plans.

Responsibilities
The optimal candidate will build and manage a portfolio of donors which ideally will include alumni, foundations, corporations and individuals. The Director of Development will also work collaboratively with the Principal, Admissions Director, School Board and Pastor, in raising funds to philanthropically support our school.

Fundraising
Create, support and grow long-term relationships with a focus on donor identification, cultivation and solicitation through direct mail, email, online giving and personal meetings. This will include community outreach to educate stakeholders, raise funds and create strategic partnerships.

Grant writing
Seek new opportunities, ensure grant funds are received, and meet deadlines for application, usage and reporting.

Database Management
Create alumni database and infrastructure to effectively manage donations, including data entry, acknowledgements, queries, report building and assessing donor trends and analytics.

Special Events
Assist in creating and managing special events including marketing, budgeting, production and acknowledgment. Provide support to volunteers conducting third-party events.

Communications
Lead philanthropic communication activities including annual appeal, acknowledgements, newsletters, and other donor/prospect materials. Updating and following our school Website, Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter accounts is a necessity.

Skills
This role requires the person to be an effective communicator, as well as comfortable and adept at operating databases. Our candidate should be able to work independently or as part of a team. Development experience in an independent or parochial school, college or university is preferred, as well as, a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Two years of experience in fundraising, sales, or a related field. Experience in non-profit development, and/or community outreach is an excellent bonus.

This job will require sedentary moments, climbing stairs, standing, walking, driving, lifting and carrying. Operating a keyboard, making and receiving calls, the use of general office equipment such as copier, fax, etc. Reliable transportation is a must. Availability to work occasional weekend events or evenings is also required.
