Job Description
This role is responsible for our core HR systems (primarily via our HRIS, Workday), and their use for frontline support of our employees and school-based leaders via our operations teams. This person is responsible for ensuring accurate and accessible core HCM data which serves as the foundation for many of our systems across the organization. They will meet this objective by ensuring our processes and systems are configured with efficiency and simplicity in mind, by finding solutions to complex systems issues, and managing and empowering a team of front-line ops team members to leverage these systems and processes to execute on key people transactions and provide support for employees and managers related to any self-service transactions. This role should have a strong eye for both systems and customer service.
  • Create a vision and direction for HR systems and processes in partnership with the Senior Director of HR, Director of talent Systems, and Data & IT Team
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive HCM data via governance, audits, trainings, simplified/efficient processes, and up-to-date documentation
  • Ensures strong customer support and operations for Uncommon employees via management of our front-line operations team and clear/accessible training and documentation for school leaders who manage key HR processes
  • Prioritize and lead key projects to improve HR operations or systems, with an eye towards positive employee experience, and efficiency/simplification for School leaders
  • Serve as the Uncommon Workday HCM expert and ensure that the HR team, and other cross-functional experts have proper training and access to HR process and systems documentation
  • Drive solutions related to HR's most complex systems issues
  • Manage two sub-functions of ~10 FTEs in total: Systems - focused on systems/process management and improvement, and operations - focused on customer support and systems/process execution
Qualifications
Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply systems thinking to key problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong functional knowledge of HR systems, laws and regulations
  • 5 years minimum managing others; 3 years minimum managing a small team or function
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to document Systems and technology
  • Functional expertise in HRIS
Preferred
  • Proficient with Workday HCM (or similarly complex ERP systems)
  • Experience using ticketing systems and leveraging analytics to manage teams
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
Travel Requirements
  • NYC, 2-4 days per week in the NYC office or schools
