Farmington Public Schools seeking a School Social Worker or Psychologist to become a member of our Mental Health Response Team, 1.0 FTE.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • State of CT certification in School Social Work (#071) or Psychology (#070)
  • Experience working with students with significant behavior needs (3-5 years)
  • Strong consultation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Familiarity with DSM-V
  • Thorough understanding of the PPT/IEP process
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

    SALARY: $49,020-$106,429 plus Resource Stipend $5,115; salary based upon education and experience.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
    Position involves assisting building based teams with managing students with significant behavior needs and in developing appropriate behavior plans. Position also involves providing professional development to both certified and noncertified staff on understanding and managing challenging behavior, as well as current trends in mental health.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist teams with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and the development of Behavior Support Plans
  • Coach certified and non-certified staff on working with students with challenging behaviors
  • Prioritize referrals and follow-up with teams
  • Identify training needs within the district regarding issues with behavior management and collaborate with the Director of Special Services in planning professional development.
  • Liaison to families with outplaced students who are returning to district.
  • Assist in the development of Social Emotional Learning plans for the district, including universal and tiered interventions as well as in-house programs to support students with significant behavioral needs.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the most current laws and regulations related to restraint and seclusion (R/S) and provide guidance related to practices essential in reducing the use of R/S throughout the district.
