Position Title: Maintenance Specialist (HVAC Certified)
Location: Maintenance Department (System-Wide)
FLSA: non-exempt
Start Date: To Be Determined
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Operations

Primary Function: Performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems of school district facilities; does other related works as required.

Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma; required, technical educational; preferred
  • Experience: 5 - 7 years experience in the maintenance field; preferred HVAC
  • Certification/Licensing: Valid Driver's License, HVAC certification, or related
  • Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to deal with multiple tasks, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Personal skills: Ability to lift materials and equipment weighing a maximum of 75 pounds. Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills, and stamina to perform essential duties.
General:
  • Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
  • Demonstrates professionalism by reporting to work and assigned duties on time.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.

  • Maintenance Specialist:

    15. Maintain accurate records of all preventive maintenance performed.
    16. Must hold a license to purchase and install all commercial refrigerant gases.
    17. Communicates vision and mission to school personnel as appropriate.
    18. Installs, modifies, troubleshoots, tests, and repairs all district heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and emergency management control systems.
    19. Makes recommendations of appropriate actions and alternatives to the Maintenance/Grounds Supervisor and Operations Director.
    20. Keeps abreast of and informs the supervisor of current trends and developments concerning the area of responsibility.
    21. Makes budget recommendations concerning area of responsibility to the Maintenance/Grounds Supervisor and Operations Director.
    22. Possess a strong ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
    23. Maintains all tools and equipment related to the position in good working order.
    24. Ensures department expenditures are within limits as approved.
    25. Uses appropriate safety precautions in all areas of job performance.
    26. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator.
