EARLY CHILDHOOD COORDINATOR

DEFINITION

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Student and Family Services, this position will coordinate all business-related functions that support the early childhood programs. This includes working with families through application and enrollment, managing finance and billing, coordinating hiring and staffing processes and managing student enrollment. The position will also manage blended funding streams for the programs and ensure they adhere to all local, State and Federal Regulations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives direct supervision from the Chief of Student and Family Services. Works closely with finance and HR departments.

PRIMARY DUTIES

The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the Early Childhood Program Coordinator. Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Establish and maintain centralized ECE systems such as purchasing, tuition and billing, application and enrollment process, and grants.

  • Collaborate and support District departments that support early childhood programs such as Finance, Human Resources, and Data and Assessment.

  • Coordinate and manage state programs such as Colorado Preschool Program (CPP), Universal Prek (UPK), Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Colorado Shines, and various grants.

  • Assume responsibility for departmental data collection and reporting necessary to procure funds and account for expenditures within multiple (federal, state, local and grant-driven) budgets and programs.

  • Establish and maintain systems that assure state and local compliance requirements are met such as fingerprinting and background checks, site licenses, waivers, and inspection reports.

  • Support and monitor all staff required training, on-boarding, and professional development.

  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships within the district and with local and state-wide agencies associated with early childhood. Attend state, community, and district meetings. e.g., Early Childhood Council, CPP, and District Early Childhood Director meetings.

  • Establish and demonstrate positive human relations with colleagues, parents, staff, and community.

  • Collaborate with District departments, early childhood programs, and external partners to implement the early childhood strategic plan.

  • Collaborate with, and support, the Early Childhood Instructional Coordinator and site-based Directors and Principals.

  • Attend required and pertinent continuing education classes and training.

  • Comply with District and School policies and procedures while supporting the vision, mission, values, and goals of Roaring Fork Schools.

  • Keep current of technical, legislative, and professional learning trends and help disseminate the information to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of:

    • Colorado Early Childhood regulations and systems

    • Professional speaking and writing in Spanish and English preferred

    • Working within an educational community with parents and staff

    • Modern office procedures and methods.

    • Advanced knowledge of Google Office programs

    • Knowledge of database concepts

    • Principles and procedures of record keeping.

    • Principles of business and letter writing and basic report preparation.

    • Early Childhood Director Qualified certification preferred


    Ability to:

    • Pass Child Care Licensing background check and CBI fingerprint check

    • Remain current on issues and trends in early childhood education

    • Identify and resolve issues effectively with different types of stakeholders and programs

    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

    • Communicate with families in a warm and supportive manner

    • Bilingual English/Spanish capabilities preferred

    • Interpret and apply District, local, and state policies and procedures

    • Relate well to diverse stakeholders

    • Work independently and with a minimum of direction

    • Maintain a professional appearance while at work


    EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES

    Experience: Administrative experience working with organizations, preferably a school district, child care center, or social service agency

    Training/ Education: Bachelor's (BA/BS) or Associate's (AA) degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or another field of study

    License or Certificate: Have use of a vehicle, current driver's license, and appropriate auto insurance for local work travel; Must be Colorado Large Center Director qualified or obtain this credential within six months of hire; Complete all required Colorado Department of Child Licensing training such as First Aid/CPR/Universal Precautions/Mandatory Reporter

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Physical Conditions:

    Primary functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, and standing, for prolonged periods of time; use of a computer; lifting; and carrying.

    SALARY RANGE AND DAYS WORKED

    Hourly range: Under current salary structure, the pay is $23.00 to $27.00/hour, depending on qualified experience.

    Days worked: 206 days/year (with paid personal time, paid sick leave, and time off for holidays and district non-work days such as during winter break and spring breaks)
