Burlington Technical Center is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person to teach the Culinary Arts program. The Culinary Arts program exposes students to the career and post-secondary education opportunities connected with the regions rapidly growing hospitality and sustainability food service industry. Students focus on foundational cooking, baking, service and entrepreneurship.

BTC provides a half-day technical program serving 11 th & 12 th graders from nine sending high schools. Additional program information can be found at https://btc.bsdvt.org/
Responsible for providing daily instruction, assessment, planning, and implementing restorative classroom practices. Culinary Arts programs are required to administer ServSafe certification as well as Dual Enrollment opportunities for students.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Improve students' knowledge of best food service practices
  • Knowledge of all areas associated with Culinary Arts currently defined in state competencies & proficiencies
  • Knowledge of how to purchase, safely operate, maintain, and store equipment, machinery & inventory supplies, tools, in the content area
  • Advise students in the career planning process and teach foundational employability skills as indicated in the Culinary Arts competencies developed by the Agency of Education
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and PRO START Certified.
  • Deliver the skills and knowledge necessary for students to function as responsible citizens in the world.
  • Work with local organizations & businesses to develop relationships
  • Prepare students for all Culinary Arts Industry Recognized Credentials and third-party assessments.
  • Will establish a Program Advisory Committee
  • Keep records of grades, grade papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Write grant proposals to gain funding for further research.
  • Teach students all of the abilities, concepts, methods, techniques, and most current technologies, in the Food Service Industry.
  • Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
  • Read and stay abreast of current topics in hospitality, sustainability, and food science
  • Create lesson plans.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs
  • Experience in Career & Technical Student Organizations
  • Preform any other duties as assigned by the Director
