1st Grade Homeroom Teacher: 40 hours/week (7:15-3:15, M-F)
Located less than a mile from Harvard Square, St. Peter School is an Archdiocesan Roman Catholic school serving girls and boys in K1 through Grade 8. St. Peter School was founded in 1901 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and has been a pillar of the Cambridge community for more than 100 years. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and offers a rigorous academic program to a diverse student population.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach Religion, ELA, Math, and Social Studies to students in grade 1
• Prepare daily lesson plans and teaching materials, utilizing St. Peter's various curricular resources
• Maintain a nurturing, rigorous, and organized learning environment
• Establish and enforce 1st grade classroom norms and expectations
• Communicate regularly with parents and families about their children's learning
• Fulfill administrative duties (e.g. maintaining gradebooks, attending staff meetings, conducting parent-teacher conferences, etc.)
• Monitor student transitions, lunch, recess blocks, and other coverages, as needed
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to drive instructional planning, monitor student learning, and provide feedback to students
• Utilize educational technology and other innovative resources to drive student learning
• Conduct classes virtually, via Zoom, as needed
• Perform other related duties, as assigned
• Support the mission of the school by participating actively in the extra-curricular life of St. Peter (school events, fundraisers, performances, clubs, etc.)
Qualifications - Candidates should have or possess:
• A shared dedication to the Catholic identity and mission of St. Peter School
• A love for working with students
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with families and coworkers
• Experience with remote and online learning platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom
• At least 2 years of experience teaching at the elementary level (grades 1-5)
Education Requirement:
• Bachelor's degree (or higher)
