Assessment Item Writer - K-5 Science, Texas (Contractor)

We are looking for a K-5 Assessment Item Writer (AIW) to join our K-5 science team. The AIW should have extensive experience writing (and teaching) K-5 science in Texas, a mastery of the TEKS, and a command of the STAAR assessment in Grade 5.

Primary Responsibility:

The AIW's primary responsibility is to use a set of K-5 science standards and a list of constraints (item types, word counts, necessary design elements, etc.) to write unique and illuminating assessment items for each standard.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Mastery of TX science standards (TEKS)
  • Mastery of TX state science test (STAAR)
  • Experience writing STAAR-aligned assessment items
Preferred Qualifications:
  • K-5 science teaching experience
  • Experience working in education publishing or educational technology
