    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. License: N/A

    2. Education:
    A. Required - Associate's Degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Social Services, Preschool Education or related field
    B. Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Social Services, Preschool Education or related field. Additional Major or minor in Latin America Spanish, Illinois Seal of Biliteracy.

    3. Experience:
    A. Required - Two (2) years' experience in community outreach programs.
    B. Preferred - Three (3) years' experience in school-based outreach programs. Spanish fluency, both written and conversational.

    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    May perform any combination of the essential functions listed.
    1. Coordinates family meetings and workshops to educate families in the areas of child health and child development. Plans and provides parent workshops and family involvement activities.
    2. Educates families about the importance of regular attendance and connects families to resources as appropriate.
    3. Identifies and develops potential partnerships with community entities with access to priority populations.
    4. Collaborates with teachers and instructional leaders to engage families in the classroom and school, including meaningful volunteer opportunities. Ensures that the school maintains a welcoming environment for parents/guardians.
    5. Engages families in a Parent Advisory council inclusive of a diverse range of family perspectives
    6. Supports communication with families in their home language, when possible, or facilitates translation when needed.
    7. Maintains clear, written case notes that document's family needs and goals. Provides resources to address those needs. Home visits as needed.
    8. Assesses family needs and refers families to community resources to support comprehensive needs.
    9. Participates on our Tier 3 PBIS team to support families with resources and wrap-around services.
    10. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students and their families.
    11. Connects parents with Lake County agencies to support a variety of supports for families.
    12. Develops and maintains network of relevant community agencies.
    13. Adheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook.
    14. Attends Open House, Curriculum nights and all-night events involving kindergarten families.
    15. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, productive environment.
    16. Maintains accurate, complete, and up-to-date records for each student and participates in problem solving team meetings.
    17. Works cooperatively with the staff to ensure a smooth transition between schools for students and families.
    18. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
    19. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative guidelines.
    20. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
    21. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional development activities.
    22. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
    23. Demonstrates responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly.
    24. Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development.
    25. Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.
    26. Performs other such duties and assumes other such responsibilities as may be assigned by the School Principal or the Early Childhood Supervisor.

    OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Works under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods.
    2. Be available beyond typical school hours, when necessary, attend required meetings and provide outreach programs when our community is able to participate including beyond the school day and school year.
    3. Be actively involved in appropriate professional organizations.
    4. Maintain confidentiality of student/staff information in the department and in the community.
    5. Assist in other areas as requested.
    6. Complete other duties as requested.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Technical: Ability to communicate effectively in English and preferred in Spanish verbally and in writing. Knowledge of general office procedures, English usage and punctuation. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Docs. Ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to work with school age children and their families. Ability to complete paperwork in a timely manner.

    Interpersonal: Liaison with individuals being served to discuss any unclear points. Must be able to work collaboratively with a team. Must be able to work harmoniously with students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people. Must have strong organizational skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some close coordination performance.

    Physical Effort: Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods. Must be available evenings and weekends as needed.

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist, i.e., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 179 days from July 1 st through June 30 th

    SALARY RANGE: Salary and benefits as defined in the collective bargaining agreement and commensurate with experience.

    EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the administration.
