Position Summary:

The Coordinator (Special Education) is responsible for special education and related services in assigned schools and/or programs. Implements systems of leadership, support, and guidance for school and district personnel so that educational programs for students with disabilities are implemented in compliance with IDEA and related federal and state laws, rules and regulations.

Essential Duties:
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, provides training, guidance, support, monitoring, and direct supervision for school and district personnel to assist schools in implementing special education and related services in compliance with the IDEA and related federal and state laws, rules, and regulation.
  • Implements systems of training, coaching, and support so that students with disabilities are provided research- based, specially-designed instruction that meets the unique needs of the student.
  • Builds strong partnerships with parents, school leaders, instructional personnel, and district personnel in order to build support for students with disabilities.
  • Partners with school personnel to assist students with disabilities to access the state-approved general curriculum and to the maximum extent appropriate, be educated with their non-disabled peers.

  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.

Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis.

Requirements :

EDUCATION:
  • Master's Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Educational Leadership or related field
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Certification in Educational Leadership or the appropriate certification that allows for supervisory roles over special education
  • Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or ability to attend off-stie meetings.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years successful experience teaching or providing services (i.e., Speech Therapy, School Psychology) to students with disabilities required.
  • 3 years of experience as a lead teacher or administrator in a school, school district, or related location


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
  • Ability to provide training, guidance, support, monitoring, and direct supervision for school and district personnel to assist schools in implementing special education and related services in compliance with the IDEA and related federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively direct, plan, implement and evaluate programs in a school-based
  • Knowledge and expertise in the formal and informal educational realms of literacy and/or
  • Knowledge of the professional learning standards and effective
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and District laws, policies, procedures, and best practices regarding student
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to exceptional student education, 504, and the SST
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead people and provide

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas and

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes.

Salary Grade: 133

Salary Range: $78, 247 - $107, 300
