Description of Service Opportunity:
"RECESS!" Is a four-week summer program targeting and for young people who will be entering grades 6, 7, or 8 in September of 2022. The program will operate from July 18 - August 12, 2022, and will be located at Hoyt Field in Cambridge, MA.
Role: Under the RECESS! Director's direction, the Community Engagement/Programming Manager(s) will lead the daily coordination, organization, and partnering with the Mayor's Office, City, School Department, Agenda for Children OST's Middle School Network, and Youth Organizations and Providers as the structure for access to a variety of summer enrichment & non competitive activities for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. In addition, the Community Engagement/Programming Manager(s) will serve as point person for families, and work collaboratively with the Director and Youth Engagement Specialists. This position reports to the Director.
Responsibilities Include:
Partner with the Mayor's Office, City, School Department, Middle School Network, and
Youth Organizations to identify summer enrichment opportunities & non competitive
activities
Serve as point of contact for families of children enrolled in the RECESS program
Communication with families about schedules, attendance, etc.
Publicize schedules and workshops to young people
Create community engagement programming calendar
Communication with neighborhood contacts and community partners
Manage logistics of partnerships and contracts with a few anchor tenants and
workshops/guest programming
Orient guest workshop presenters
Supervise lunch distribution (when needed)
Support logistics of infrastructure setup and plan for securing of materials
Ensure compliance with city/state/federal COVID safety protocols
Your Skill Set:
Understands the developmental needs of pre-teens entering grades 6, 7, and 8; Ability to
relate to youth and adults in a positive manner; Motivated; Detailed oriented; Team
player; Creative; Flexible; Willing to take on additional responsibilities when needed;
Familiarity with Cambridge youth services preferred.

Minimum Requirement/Job Qualifications:

Available to work dates of the program
Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth in a school, Out-of-School Time, or
summer camp setting
Bachelor's degree preferred
Commitment to equity in youth development
Maintain good public relations with city partners
Restorative Justice Practices experience
Reliable and punctual
Be First Aid and CPR trained prior to start of program
Must successfully complete CORI process

Contract Dates:
July 1, 2022 through August 19, 2022

Contract Amount:
$36.00 per hour, not to exceed $8,496.00
