Description of Service Opportunity:
"RECESS!" Is a four-week summer program targeting and for young people who will be entering grades 6, 7, or 8 in September of 2022. The program will operate from July 18 - August 12, 2022, and will be located at Hoyt Field in Cambridge, MA.
Role:
The RECESS! Youth Engagement Specialist(s) will monitor and participate in all daily summer
enrichment & non competitive activities with rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. In addition, the Programming Manager will work collaboratively with the Director and Community Engagement/Programming
Manager. This position reports to the Director.
Responsibilities Include:
Build and maintain culture of fun, inclusiveness and curiosity
Build relationships with young people in the space
Use expertise to create or extend programming based on space, interests of young
people and materials
Assist in advertising the program on social media and attracting young people to the space
Create programming in areas of interest or expertise
Assist in daily build-up, breakdown and securing of infrastructure for securing of
materials
Assist in lunch distribution
Ensure compliance with city/state/federal COVID safety protocols
Your Skill Set:
Understands the developmental needs of pre-teens entering grades 6, 7, and 8; Ability to
relate to youth and adults in a positive manner; Enthusiasm; Adaptability; Team player;
Sense of humor; Ability to accept supervision and guidance; Familiarity with Cambridge
youth services preferred.

Minimum Requirments/Job Qualifications:
Available to work dates of the program
Be at least 18 years of age
Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in a school, Out-of-School Time, or
summer camp setting
Associate's degree preferred but not required
Commitment to equity in youth development
Restorative Justice Practices experience
Reliable and punctual
Be First Aid and CPR trained prior to start of program
Must successfully complete CORI process

Contract Dates:
July 1, 2022 through August 19, 2022

Contract Amount:
$25.00 per hour, not to exceed $5,000.00
