JOB DESCRIPTION

LOCATION: CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION - FINE ARTS

POSITION: Elementary Fine Arts Coordinator

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in a Fine Arts field, from an accredited college or
university

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate-All Level in a Fine Arts field (Art, Dance,
Music, or Theatre)

Master's degree in Educational Administration

Valid Texas Principal's Certificate
Special Knowledge & Skills:

Knowledge of K-6 Fine Arts teaching and learning.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
students, staff, and community

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Verbal and written bilingual communication skills are a plus

Demonstrated leadership of a Fine Arts school program

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 5 years teaching experience in a Fine Arts field at the elementary level (Art,

Dance, Music, or Theatre)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinates, promotes, and develops the K-6 District Fine Arts program

to include visual arts, movement/dance, instrumental and vocal music
programs, and theater arts and their related activities. Serves as a
resource to others by interfacing with Fine Arts teachers to develop and
conduct training and guidance on curriculum design and instructional
strategies; provide input and recommendations regarding curriculum
planning and professional development; facilitate and review curricular
materials; and identify and recruit outstanding prospective Fine Arts
teachers and programs.

DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Executive Director of Fine Arts in coordinating and
monitoring the Fine Arts programs in all elementary schools
throughout the district.

Work with the Executive Director of Fine Arts in coordinating and
facilitating Curriculum & Instruction goals and program needs as
directed.

Assist in recruiting, screening, interviewing, and making
recommendations for hiring of Fine Arts Teachers, Teacher Leaders,
and other future supervisory positions.

Advise and consult with the Executive Director of Fine Arts on the
recommendation, development, supervision, reassignment and
exiting of Fine Arts personnel.

Assist in planning and overseeing a robust Summer Fine Arts
Academy.

Elem Fine Arts Coord (con't)

Create and develop a robust Fine Arts program through innovation
and special initiatives such as elementary musical & theatrical
productions, the annual Summer Fine Arts Academy

Promote and communicate the Fine Arts programs through public
relations, media coverage, and social media.

Assist in planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the Fine
Arts programs in accordance with the district's policies and
applicable laws.

Assist in developing strategic, functional, and operational plans
needed to implement system-wide projects including the scheduling
of exhibitions, and district-wide events.

Collaboratively develop, implement, and monitor the acquisition of
materials for the Fine Arts programs; recommend purchases of new
equipment and materials.

Enforce attendance at all District, UIL, and strand governing body
activities such as CEDFA, Orff, Kodaly, TAEA, TDEA, TMEA, and
TxETA.

Provide leadership to campuses to promote continued improvement
in Fine Arts programs.

Maintain accurate records and develop reports as required.
Coordinate the planning and implementation of effective staff

development programs for Fine Arts teachers, ensuring the
improvement of instruction through the use of a variety of strategies
and techniques.

Work with Fine Arts teachers, principals, and Executive Director of
Fine Arts in submitting reports.

Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER INFORMATION: Mental & Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written form, effective
management and public relation skills. Ability to maintain emotional
control under stress. Occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of 40+ lbs.
Position requires frequent district-wide travel, occasional statewide
travel; prolonged and irregular hours.
