The Role:
The Curriculum Coordinator for Mathematics is a member of the district's Academics and Schools Division. The candidate will perform a variety of administrative responsibilities in coordinating the successful implementation of PreK-12 Mathematics programs across the school district as well as design, coordinate, and deliver professional learning opportunities and resources to assist educators to reflect upon and improve instructional practices that support increased student achievement consistent with the district's vision of rigorous, joyful, culturally responsive learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads and supports a vision for PreK-12 Math in the district that is focused on raising student achievement and creating high-quality learning experiences for all students.
  • Observes, coaches, and evaluates Mathematics coaches, interventionists, and content area educators as well as provides ongoing professional development for targeted improvement in identified growth areas.
  • Provides constructive feedback and direction to Principals, Instructional Leadership Teams (ILT), coaches, interventionists, and content area educators, on the improvement of student achievement and effective implementation of the Mathematics curricular programs and interventions.
  • Collaborates with school and district coaches, principals, content coordinator colleagues, Deans of Curriculum including the high school Dean for Mathematics Curriculum, Office of Student Services and other Central Office staff to ensure curriculum units, assessments, instructional strategies, interventions and resources, are aligned to State standards, support interdisciplinary opportunities and are based on student data.
  • Partners with the Research, Assessment and Evaluation team to monitor and report on student progress and achievement.
  • Establishes and executes organizational systems and strategies to monitor and support district Mathematics meetings, professional development, and planning with and for coaches, interventionists, and educators.
  • Helps design and participates in caregiver workshops to enhance Mathematics learning at home and school.
  • Facilitates the Mathematics curriculum review cycle with attention to factors impacting equity and accessibility for all students
  • Other duties deemed needed by the Chief of Academics and Schools
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Curriculum Coordinator for Mathematics, you may possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following skills and experiences:
  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Mathematics Frameworks Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  • Training and/or direct experience with instructional methods to support high leverage strategies and subsequent approaches educators implement to achieve learning objectives.
  • Training and/or direct experience with Culturally Responsive and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Experience teaching in a PK-8 and/or 9-12 culturally diverse, urban setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive teaching & learning environment
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to create a District-level professional development program.
  • Experience in supervision and evaluation of staff, budget development, and program administration.
Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree or from an accredited college or university, with graduate level courses in school administration and educational leadership.
  • 2-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Massachusetts School Administrator or Supervisor licensure or equivalent.
  • Massachusetts Mathematics licensure or eligibility for licensure.

Salary: In accordance with experience and the Cambridge Education Association Unit B Salary Schedule.

Work Year: 11 months (September - July). Anticipated start date July 1, 2022.
