  • POSITION TITLE: Summer School Special Education Generalist - Summer School and ESY.
    SUMMER SCHOOL DATES:

    Summer Program Session: May 31, 2022 - June 30, 2022
    Classes meet Mondays through Thursdays:
    Elementary: 8:00 - 12:30 (inclusive of breakfast, snack and lunch)
    Secondary: 8:45 - 1:15 (inclusive of breakfast, snack and lunch)

    May 25 - May 27, 8:00-4:00 - training for all school-based staff.
    June 30, 2022 - Position Ends.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The special education generalist will work with a wide range of learning, mental, emotional and physical disabilities by adapting and/or modifying general education lessons and teaching various subjects to students on the mild to severe range of needs as identified on the Individual Education Plan (IEP). The special education generalist is responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs and instruction for qualifying students with a disability. The special education generalist also supports the buildings efforts in multi-tiered systems of supports. The special education generalists will develop and promote positive community relations among stakeholders. The special education generalist may assist with translation and/or commination using second language skills when possible.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Review referral data, history and assessment data to develop appropriate lessons to meet and maintain student goals
    • Design appropriate teaching strategies
    • Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans according to IEPs
    • Review IEPs with parents, ESY para professionals and ESY administration
    • Utilize appropriate methods of learning delivery and instruction to meet the needs of each student
    • Monitor, evaluate and document each student's progress utilizing appropriate measurements
    • Create a positive learning environment and effective management structures to purposefully promote and foster effective teaching and learning
    • Maintain regular communication with parents by means of email, phone calls, conferences and progress reports
    • Assist parents with understanding and supporting educational objectives, learning expectations and behavioral standards
    • Ensure adherence to reasonable rules of classroom discipline and order to maintain a secure and effective learning environment
    • Manage student behavior through monitoring, supervising and assessing behavioral patterns
    • Utilize appropriate corrective methods to modify behavior
    • Develop and implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary
    • Instruct students on socially acceptable behaviors and personal development skills
    • Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with school district regulations and legal requirements
    • Maintain a current knowledge of special education best practices and trends
    Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supervision of support personnel.
    • Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to interview participation, training/development, assign and direct work, performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.

    BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
    • Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, instructional groups, transition materials and supplies).
    • Accurately projects need for budget planning.
    • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.
    • Review processes for improvement opportunities and make changes as needed to ensure quality of instruction.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor's degree.
    Master's degree (preferred).
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process and licensure.
    Current CPI certification

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Driver's License.
    Valid Colorado Teaching License with Special Education Generalist or equivalent endorsement.

    SALARY:
    $39.07 per hour (based on negotiated agreement)
