Position Summary:
The Outreach Specialist (OS) is responsible for all student recruitment and retention efforts by developing and implementing strategies for assigned locations meeting specific Average Daily Membership (ADM) enrollment targets as determined by the Supervisor. The OS is required to recruit and network successfully with representatives from various communities, organizations, local school districts and neighborhoods with respect to the diverse populations and cultures. The OS will conduct an Enrollment Meeting for each student and be responsible for accurate and reliable paperwork and reports while following strict timelines and procedures. Once enrolled, the OS will work with the instructional team to provide supports for struggling students. The position will also support center staff with student celebrations, open houses, family, school, and community events. Position may require supporting staff in determining graduation status, scheduling courses, and supporting the students plan after graduation.

The position operates with general direction from the Supervisor and functions as an integral part of the Ombudsman team in supporting and implementing Ombudsman and Chancelight initiatives.

Position Duties:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Recruitment and Retention
  • Develops innovative strategies for increasing the recruitment of prospective students.
  • Actively develops and participates in all school functions; student celebrations, open houses, family, school and community events, etc. to drive recruitment.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of admissions, departments, curricula, and Arizona graduation requirements.
  • Provides levels of outreach to prospective students via in-person visits, phone calls, emails, home visits, etc. to support the progression of students through the enrollment. Maintains a database of interested students for direct mail and email contact.
  • Works collaboratively with promote new and on-going initiatives for student recruitment and retention.
  • Creates a network of contacts with potential students through alumni, parents, faculty and current students.
  • Supervise the enrollment process by monitoring and responding to on-line inquiries.
  • Manage wait list activity and meet Arizona Charter enrollment requirements
  • Monitor attendance, behavior and academic progress and provide support and interventions for struggling students.

Community Engagement
  • Works in partnership with community-based providers and administrative staff to develop and implement programs that promote academic and social achievement.
  • Promotes family and community relations opportunities through implementing policies and programs at community events.
  • Represents the organization at community meetings. This position serves as a representative of the organization, maintaining and developing relationships with key external contacts and the community-at-large.
  • Identifies and collects information on wrap around service providers in the community and provides referrals to students and families in need.
  • Collaborate with key internal personnel to reinforce the community engagement strategy.
  • Provides community awareness through communications and admissions open houses and other outreach.


Success Factors
  • Enrollment targets are met or exceeded for each count day at assigned Arizona Charter School(s).
  • Effectively develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, school districts and referral sources. At least two or more strategic key partnerships are established within provided timeframe.
  • Supports school wide effort to improve retention and decrease truancy with the student population. Attendance and enrollment targets are met as established in school performance management plan.
  • Monitors and reports recruitment data in an accurate and timely manner

Qualifications:
Associates degree in business management or related field from an accredited institution. Additional outside previous experience in teaching and/or related marketing/business fields preferred
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, problem solving, multi-tasking., conflict resolution, decision-making, and organizational skills with attention to detail
Bilingual highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to achieve a high degree of accuracy in numerical analyses and presentation
