High School Summer Enrichment Teacher - (Session 1) - July 5 - July 14, 2022 & (Session 2) - July 18 - July 28, 2022
We are hiring certified and non-certified staff to facilitate the enrichment courses at Windsor High School from July 5 -July 28 (excluding Fridays).
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The high school summer enrichment teacher will be responsible tp facilitate the Scholars SAT Workshop to engage high school students in problem solving and critical thinking. The high school summer enrichment teacher will work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the Director of STEM to plan and implement the enrichment course.
Ceramics: Learn Basic Techniques for Working with Clay and Firing It in a Kiln
Chess: Learn and Teach High Level Chess Strategies
Cooking for High School: Prepare Easy and Nutritious Meals That Promote a Healthful Lifestyle
Dance Fitness: Learn About Dance, Fitness, Poses, and Mindfulness
Entrepreneurship: Discover What It Takes to Innovate and Manage a Business of Your Dreams
Financial Literacy: Learn About Fiscal Responsibility, Money Management, and Smart Decision-Making
Jewelry Making: Use Basic and More Advanced Jewelry Making Techniques to Create Beautiful, Wearable Pieces of Art
Music Production
Outdoor Adventures: Explore The Outdoors, From Rivers to Trails to Woods
Painting: Introduction to Painting Techniques While Learning About Famous Artists
SpeedPass 8-9 Transition: Make a Successful Transition from 8th Grade to High School by Experiencing a Model High School Environment
Student Advisory Leadership Program: Prepare to Be a Student Advisory Leader (SAL) by Honing Leadership, Peer Advising, and Mentoring in a Culturally Responsive Environment (open to juniors and seniors only)
SWEAT Program: Senior Workshops Enabling a Smooth Academic Transition to College- College Search, College Essay, Resume Writing, and Letters of Recommendation (open to seniors only)
Weight Training: Reach Optimal Physical Fitness Through Weight Training Concepts and Techniques
SEL Academy: Learn skills and strategies to help you navigate the challenges of High School life and beyond.
Responsiblities:
Attend orientation on June (TBD).
Work directly with the Director of Arts and Humanities or the STEM Director.
Order and prepare all materials needed for the enrichment course in advance of the enrichment course
Record attendance.
Communicate with families.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Summer Lead Teacher/Coordinator and/or Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services.
Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility. Summer school personnel must be able to attend the orientation on June (TBD) and work the entire program time. No vacation or personal time will be granted. Hiring will take place in May and based on student enrollment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles
Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
Ability to organize and coordinate IN-PERSON work
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
Qualifications:
Connecticut Teacher Certification preferred
Satisfactory attendance/performance
Education:
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary or Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment
