General Description
Provides English language development instruction to English language learners. Provides support to core content teachers in implementing online teaching best practices, applying online technology, and using the online learning management system to deliver online courses for the CCPS Recovery of Learning program. Models effective integration of e-Learning technologies and instructional design practices. Work is performed at the professional level within specific program guidelines. Additional online teaching assignments may be assigned as needed.
Essential Job Functions
  • Facilitate small group instruction with students daily for individual/group lessons.
  • Monitor students' use of online programs and provide direct instruction in areas of need.
  • Works with Learning Recovery administrator to develop digital content supporting the CCPS Recovery of Learning school program and the school division's blended learning initiative.
  • Works with identified staff to support Learning Recovery teachers using the school district's learning management system
  • Provides support and assistance in developing and/or using digital content in the K-12 academic environment.
  • Attends all required training on applications, curriculum, etc.
  • Promotes language development curriculum models and instruction that make effective use of e-Learning and information/communication technologies, such as cooperative and collaborative projects, student engagement and innovation, student-centered curriculum, and small group instruction.
  • Establishes communication channels with English Learners necessary to achieve the online learning program goals and monitor progress.
  • Demonstrates exemplary online teaching and instructional design practices that create equity and make effective and innovative use of e-Learning technologies.
  • Ensures development criteria and instructional design standards are met and implemented.
  • Provides training and support in the use of the online learning management system, authoring software applications and other e-Learning technologies used by the school division.
  • Participates in on-going training and projects related to job responsibilities. Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
  • Teaches English Learner students taking virtual courses and in online credit recovery offered through the CCPS virtual school program as needed
  • Assesses English Learner student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs through additional differentiated one on one or small group remediation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of online learning in K-12 education with special emphasis on English language development instructional methodologies and course design best practices. Considerable knowledge of the innovative use of information and communication technologies for e-Learning including online learning management systems, authoring programs and Google Apps for Education. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver online learning technology support to students, teachers, administrators and other personnel. Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing online learning experiences using the learning management system and various digital content development applications. Demonstrated ability in interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability in organizational and time management skills.

Requirements

Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in English as a Second Language.

References
Applicants must submit two (2) references as a part of their application package. Applicants with zero years teaching experience should submit references from their cooperating teacher and university supervisor. Applicants with recent teaching experience must provide references from principals and/or superintendents from all contracted teaching experiences within the past three (3) years. If experience is not within the past three (3) years, references from the last contracted work experience should be provided. Applicants without direct classroom teaching experience should submit (2) references from the current employer, including one supervisory reference.
