  • Position Title: Career and Technical Education Director, District Office
    Work Year: 260 days; Full year, July 1 - June 30

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Director of Career & Technical Education plans, implements, and supervises secondary and adult career and technical education programs within his/her assigned high school, and collaborates closely with the director of the other high school to provide cohesive direction and management of the Nashua Technology Center. The Director also coordinates regional career and technical education programming with other districts in the region.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Master's degree in career and technical education, school administration or related area, or a Bachelors' degree with significant experience.
    2. Five years successful experience in an appropriate teaching area and/or educational administration, with evidence of leadership experience.
    3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    4. Certifiable in New Hampshire in Career and Technical Education

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Supervises, observes and evaluates CTE teachers and para-educators; supervises assigned secretarial staff and the career center coordinator; and coordinates and participates in the orientation, training, and, if needed, alternate certification plan development for program teachers. Oversees contract providers of service.
    2. Prepares preliminary CTE operating budgets for submission to the appropriate secondary principals; monitors and reports on the financial status of CTE programs.
    3. Prepares, submits and manages the annual Carl Perkins Grant, including assuring grant guidelines and reporting requirements are met. Searches out and applies for federal, state and other external sources of funds for CTE programs and activities.
    4. Prepares specifications and invitations for bids, and in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer purchases supplies, materials, and equipment for CTE programs; supervises their storage, distribution, inventory and maintenance.
    5. Leads ongoing curriculum development among CTE programs, in alignment with district curricula, advisory committee recommendations, and state requirements to ensure the District's CTE programs engage student interests and meet the current needs of business and industry. Supports the development and implementation of course-level competencies.
    6. Serves as a liaison to the NH Department of Education and regional school districts as well as local, regional, and state committees or organizations to advance career and technical education.
    7. Works closely with secondary principals, guidance counselors, and other staff in the district and community to inform staff and encourage student interest in CTE programs within a career pathways framework. Works with staff to support students who may need accommodations or modifications for successful participation in CTE programs.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Physically performs sedentary work exerting up to 20 pounds of force infrequently, up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but will include walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasionally reach above shoulders, kneel and bend. Mental demands requiring decision making, analytical and organizational skills in order to achieve work objectives, draw daily operational conclusions, solve practical problems, use computer technology and to present information for use by administration in making decisions.
