QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree (M.S.E., M.S.) in Counseling and Testing and an Educator License with endorsement #436-Guidance Counselor and a #314 endorsement. (see attachment)
REPORTS TO:
Director, Career/ Technical Center
JOB GOAL:
Provide counseling and advisement services in a competent, informed, and professional manner.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
Provide ongoing course advisement and counseling services for all students or potential students in person, over the phone and via e-mail in order to assist them in educational planning and progress toward his/her goal (intent). Use interest, ability, personality and intelligence tests within the parameters of professional and ethical guidelines to assist in the counseling process. Selects, administers, and interprets test instruments used in assisting students in making career choices. Assist with recruitment, retention and follow-up of students. Assist with the dual enrollment/dual credit process for student admissions and registration. Provide a variety of services, which will assist students in career exploration, planning and graduation or educational goal attainment. Disseminate occupational information to students. Serve on assigned committees and participate in various school-sponsored activities. Provide written correspondence for students needing or requesting information. Collect and manage accurate data for program improvement and accountability. Maintains knowledge of CTE program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintains student records. Participates in required professional development activities. Participates in additional professional growth opportunities to support student achievement. Uses technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong Perform other duties, as assigned, by the appropriate authority. EVALUATION:
Performance of the Director will be evaluated in accordance with provision of Board policy.

314 Career and Technical Education Counselor
This is an "add on" endorsement that may be earned only by persons who hold a currently valid Mississippi Educator License with endorsement #436-Guidance Counselor.
A #314 endorsement allows a person to serve as a career and technical counselor. This endorsement requires the following:
Currently valid Mississippi Educator License with endorsement in Guidance Counselor #436 Applicant must validate technology competency by attaining the established minimum score or higher on an assessment approved by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). The assessment must be directly related to technology competency required by the grade level and subject matter being taught. Approved assessments for this license are IC3 or other approved MDE substitute. Applicant must successfully complete a Certification for online learning workshop, module, or course that is approved by the Mississippi Department of Education. Applicant must successfully complete a Career & Technical Counselor workshop, module, or course that is approved by the Mississippi Department of Education. Note: If the applicant meets all of the requirements, they will be issued a 314 endorsement-a five-year license. If the applicant meets the endorsement requirement, but does not meet all other requirements, the applicant may be issued a three-year endorsement (license), and all requirements stated above must be satisfied prior to the ending date of that license.
