Essential Qualifications:
  • Current WA State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
  • Either a science endorsement for grades 7- 12 or ability to obtain, or must have Agriculture or Agricultural Science CTE certificate or ability to obtain. If interested in the Agricultural Science position, please see the Alternative Pathways to CTE Endorsement below.
  • Responsible for teaching middle to high school science students at White Pass School District.
  • Evidence of NCLB "Highly Qualified" status.
  • Successful teaching experience working with adolescent students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and families.
  • Ability to employ a range of effective instructional techniques and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, manage and interact with students in a positive and productive manner.
  • Knowledge of state standards and ability to implement standards-based lessons.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form.
  • Enthusiasm toward teaching and student learning.
  • Willingness to participate in on-going training.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of learners.
  • Participate in all required meetings, trainings, and professional developments.
Alternative Pathways to CTE Endorsement if required: For CTE Position

Washington State offers two routes to obtain certification to teach CTE Courses. For further information visit the state Certification Website:

  • Valid Washington State Teacher Certificate preferred.
  • Valid Washington State CTE Teacher Certificate or:
    • ability to complete CTE certification within two years of hire.
    • 6000 hours work experience in Agriculture-related industries (Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources career cluster).
  • Minimum 3 years successful experience in Agriculture or a related industry or teaching in an Agriculture-related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A demonstrated knowledge of integrating technology into curriculum.
  • Willingness to assist with extracurricular activities.
  • Willingness to supervise an FFA program. Small in Scope/Size.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective instruction aligned to standards to adolescent students.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications as required by student plans.
  • Keep accurate records regarding assessment and student progress.
  • Assist with program implementation and evaluation.
  • Participate with other staff members on school improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by principal.
