Summer Pool Supervisor at Staples High School for Westport Continuing Education

Qualifications
  • Applicants must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification required if applicant is interested in teaching lessons
  • Experience working with swimmers with special needs is helpful

Compensation
$30/hour

Work Calendar + Hours
  • Summer Camp Schedule: Monday, June 27 - Friday, August 5, M - F, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Optional Teaching Lessons, based on demand: 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for opening and closing the pool at Staples High School, maintaining safety standards, and equipment
  • Supervise campers during free swim periods in the mornings for Sports & Fun (grades 1 - 5) and Sports Fusion (grades 6 - 8) camps
  • Conduct swim test for younger swimmers to ensure that they can utilize the pool safely
  • Review pool safety and rules for campers every Monday for each session of camp
  • Enforce all pool safety rules and ensure a safe environment for all students
  • Manage additional high school student lifeguards and manage weekly lifeguard schedules
  • Ensure that the pool, pool equipment, and pool facilities are clean, sanitary and orderly
  • Assist with managing pool schedule for camps, in collaboration with Head Counselors
  • Option to teach private and group lessons, depending on demand and schedule
