IMMEDIATE OPENING: The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is looking for a dynamic, licensed History Teacher to join HEC Academy in Northampton, MA. The Academy serves students in grades 9-12 with social/emotional/ behavioral challenges and learning disabilities. This teacher will design and implement History & Civics content and curriculum in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, which will include a capstone Civics project for high school seniors. The candidate will provide individualized and small-group instruction, while creating and reinforcing a culture of academic achievement and social-emotional support. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching all students, a strong commitment to principles of social justice and equity, and the ability to inspire critical thinking. Candidates require a Massachusetts teacher license in History for grades 5-12.

This is You:
  1. You hold a current Massachusetts teaching license in History (5-12).
  2. Bachelor's Degree in education or related field.
  3. Demonstrated student teaching, or related classroom experience.
  4. Education or experience working with students with learning, behavioral, and/or social emotional challenges.

Highlights of What You Will Do:
  1. Develop and implement curriculum lessons and mini-units, assessing and modifying as designated in student IEPs
  2. Provide content area instruction, integrating students' IEP goals and objectives, learning style information, accommodations and modifications as appropriate.
  3. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and that provides for the healthy development of all students.

Compensation scale: Salary scale based on licensure and education. Range $43,000-$67,000

CES Benefits: CES offers a comprehensive benefit package including: Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, and voluntary Short Term Disability, enhanced Vision and additional Life Insurance. Health Insurance is offered through Tufts/Harvard Pilgrim and includes two plan options: PPO with a self-funded Health Savings Account, and HMO with a Health Reimbursement Account funded by CES to support a portion of health insurance deductions. FSA and Dependent Care accounts are available. Teachers are eligible for retirement through MTRS. Professional development and mentoring offered throughout the school year.
