Primary Purpose:


The IT Network Administrator is responsible for the stable and efficient operation of the organization’s network infrastructure, while also ensuring it is reliable and secure. Plans, designs, installs, configures, maintains, supports, monitors and optimizes organization’s network infrastructure, hardware, software, and communication systems / equipment. S/he will also develop and maintain the high- level design plan for the overall logical and technical network architecture. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. The Network Administrator will be responsible for all high-level network infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Computer Science or related field.
Certifications: At least one IT certification (CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, MCSE or related) preferred.
May consider equivalent combinations of degree, certifications and experience.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge 5+ years of experience in implementing enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VMs, virtual networks, routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Wireless AP, and web filtering devices/applications.

Proven experience in an IT network administrator/architect role
K-12 Education industry experience and E-rate knowledge a Plus.
Experience managing, developing and delivering strategic network architectural design and operational excellence
Experience with set up and configuration of server, server hardware and related network hardware.

Hands on experience with server management and monitoring tools
Proven network engineering, network operations, and network performance analysis skills
Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting and problem resolution
Excellent knowledge of current protocols, policies, standards, applicable data privacy and security practices and laws

Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.

Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control and monitoring computing infrastructure, backup and recovery software and methodologies.

Keen attention to detail and hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
Cisco based Network Support / Troubleshooting for WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, IPS,

Unified communications, and security
Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016, 2019
Knowledge with network diagnostic and optimization, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. WireShark,

Splunk etc.)
Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite, Active Directory, Cloud (Azure), SharePoint and

VMware
Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues

Experience:
Minimum 7 years IT experience, including at least 5 years in IT networks and 3 years in Network
Administration related experience required.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Network Management

1. Evaluate, plan, design, configure, maintain, optimize, monitor and upgrade organization’s network infrastructure, networks including network systems in data centers and third party hosted sites.

2. Design, configure, implement, install and manage organization’s LANs, WANs, VMs, virtual networks, firewalls, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, and other network devices.

3. Bring all network outages and problems to conclusion in a quick and efficient manner.

4. Perform network design, implementation and capacity planning to ensure that network infrastructure and functionalities meets existing and future requirements.

5. Ensure Network security, protocols, policies, to safeguard network infrastructure

6. Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.

7. Implement and manage disaster recovery and system back-ups.

8. Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

9. Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, security improvements, system upgrades, and repairs.

10. Recommend improvements and/or alternatives on the company’s existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.

11. Review new and existing network design projects for compliance with standards and architectural plans.

12. Manage and set priorities for the architectural design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all network infrastructures, including LANs, WANs, VMs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on.

13. Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.

14. Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.

15. Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of network development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and network flexibility.

16. Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in network technologies, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.

17. Create and maintain documentation in Visio as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

18. Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.

19. Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, speed, and latency) and test for weaknesses

20. Ensure network and network services have security, connectivity, reliability and efficiency.

21. Specify system requirements and design solutions. Create technical support documentation for systems and applications.

Other

22. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

23. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

24. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

25. Any and all other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
