PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide support to the food service activities at assigned locations with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel; and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Arranges food, beverages, condiments, and serving items prior to serving meals for the purpose of ensuring their availability to students and staf
  • Cleans utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary
  • Maintains a variety of records (e.g. dishwashing temperatures, refrigeration temperatures, temperatures at beginning and ending of serving, etc.) for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements.
  • Performs functions of other nutritional services positions, as requested by supervisor for the purpose of ensuring adequate staff coverage within the site nutritional services operations.
  • Prepares a variety of food items (e.g. sandwiches, salads, fruits, vegetables, etc.) for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
  • Receives and stores deliveries according to
  • Keep kitchen floors clean and free of moisture and food particles
  • Remove trash and clean trash cans as needed.
  • Operate dish machine and assist with washing of pots and pans
  • Assist in setting up serving line and serve as assigned
  • Strictly observe and practice all rules of sanitation and safety.
  • Support manager and cooperate in maintaining a high quality food service operation and harmonious working environment.
  • Follow Federal laws, School Board policies and Food Service directives.
  • Perform other duties assigned by cafeteria manager or
  • Ability to move from one school assignment to another, within job classification.


  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude toward students and
  • Ability to read, write, follow written directions and count accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, appearance, cleanliness, sanitation and safety.
  • Punctual and dependable and show initiative in job
  • Exhibit ability and willingness to cooperate and work well with adults and
  • Exhibit positive attitude and pleasant personality and initiative in seeking tasks to be done
  • Must acquire food handlers card or ServSafe certificate within 60 days of employment, district will assist with applicable fee(s)

    This job requires that the employee be able to : sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers. The job requires mono and color vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The job requires lifting and handling (50 lbs) institutional equipment, pots, pans, packages and cases containing food and supplies.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Thirty-nine weeks plus/year- Non contract
