Job Summary: Assists teachers with the integration of technology in the classroom, modeling instructional and integration strategies as appropriate, provides training and professional development to teachers on the effective use of technology, and assists with curriculum development as it relates to instructional technology. This position is not intended to serve as a classroom teacher, lab instructor, or a person to troubleshoot or repair technology equipment. ITRTs are members of Technology and Instructional Services and are supervised by the Director of Growth and Innovation.
Essential Functions:
- Works with teachers individually and in groups to develop skills by way of providing coaching strategies that support effective blending of technology and innovative pedagogical practices with the instructional program
- Plans and conducts regularly scheduled professional learning sessions and workshops for individuals and groups, including modeling and co-teaching lessons with classroom teachers.
- Promotes model instructional practices and the appropriate role of technology in the teaching / learning process.
- Collaborates with teachers in composing lesson plans, providing resources and supporting teachers as they innovate, implement new digital resources into their instructional practice.
- Is a member of a cluster tech support/service team that serves multiple grade levels, schools, programs, and campuses.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Outstanding interpersonal and teaching leadership skills for working effectively with faculty and staff.
- Excellent communication skills in small or large groups as well as one-on-one.
- Working knowledge of the Virginia Standards of Learning and best practice instructional strategies, particularly in working to address students' learning needs.
- Collegiate professional license
- Meets 'highly' qualified' in current content area as defined by NCLB.
