Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning, is responsible for providing leadership in developing, implementing, and supporting the Spotsylvania County Public Schools K-12 Mathematics instructional program at both the division and school levels. Additionally, provides professional learning for all educators with a focus on utilization of the job-embedded division coaching model.
Essential Job Functions:
- Support, develop, and evaluate K-12 mathematics curriculum alongside curriculum development teams.
- Lead annual curriculum review and refinement process.
- Provide assistance in the written (development of curriculum), taught (instructional strategies and resource development), and assessed (common formative and division assessments development) K-12 mathematics curriculum for all students.
- Provide targeted professional learning for teachers, administrators, math specialists, etc.
- Oversees math specialist team and math liaison roles
- Support school leadership in improving student learning in schools
- Partner with school improvement teams to implement the continuous school improvement plan (CSIP) as needed
- Provide assistance to administrators in analyzing data to support student learning.
- Seeks out and participates in professional growth experiences.
- Participates in school and division committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Thorough knowledge of K-12 mathematics curriculum.
- Demonstrates the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators and teachers.
- Demonstrates the ability to support, collaborate, and communicate with educators in groups such as PLCs, multidisciplinary curricular teams as well as one-on-one.
- Demonstrates ability in written and oral communications and interpersonal relations.
- Demonstrates conceptual skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
- Performs duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Candidate should have a minimum of five (5) years of recent and successful school experience.
Education:
Candidate should possess or qualify for a Virginia Mathematics Specialist for elementary and middle education.
Contract Terms: Employee works a 11-month contract, 7.5 hours per day. This position is evaluated annually.
Salary Range: $49,948 to $100,304
