Job Summary

Leads and directs Parent Academy, Community Education, Business/Faith-Based Partnership and other parent involvement initiatives. Assists in engaging family and community support in the improvement of education. Co-develops and implements standard operational procedures and community outreach.

Essential Functions Percent of Job
1. Leads, directs, and manages Parent Academy, Community Education, and Business/Faith-Based Partnership operations and staff; assists in the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining of staff.
2. Develops and implements engagement strategies that increase family friendly school environments and parental involvement; and assists in increasing strategic partners and volunteers/mentors in support of parental involvement.
3. Assists in the advocacy of policy and practice on all matters related to Family and Community Engagement (FACE).
4. Identifies Parent Academy and parental involvement needs based on data in order to advocate for children, collaborates with all partners, and meets the Strategic Plan goals related to FACE initiatives. Participates in matching of strategic and school-based community/business partnerships with Parent Academy and parental involvement.
5. Creates and maintains strong relations with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Serves and participates on local councils that promote parental and community involvement (some night and weekend scheduling required).
6. Oversees the district's fee-based Extended Day and Community Education Programs.
7. Assists in advocating, supporting, and educating district leadership, school administrators and community stakeholders on engagement strategies that support student learning.
8. Designs and delivers in-service training to school-based personnel and leadership regarding parental involvement and community engagement strategies (parental involvement/volunteer/mentor/school-based partnerships, etc.).
9. Assists Chief of Staff in advising Superintendent, and School Board on matters related to parental involvement, as well as community and family engagement initiatives and activities related to the District's Strategic Plan.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years' experience in a management position in public school administration (including Principal), or community based organization, organizational development, community relations and partnerships or fundraising.

• Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies, guidelines, laws, and rules related to community and family engagement
• Knowledge of strategic planning practices
• Knowledge of communications theories practices and processes
• Knowledge of grant development processes

• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
