SECRETARY/ACCOUNTANT TO THE DIRECTOR
Food and Nutrition Services
Thomas E. Carroll Nutrition Center

Salary Range: $61,756 - $66,570

Responsibilities:
  1. Performs secretarial and administrative responsibilities of a complex and confidential nature.
  2. Maintains the Director's calendar, documents meeting proceedings with associated reports.
  3. Responsible for organizing and scheduling meetings.
  4. Screens incoming calls and processes all incoming mail, keeps office records as appropriate and maintains a filing system.
  5. Utilizes a variety of information management systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Office applications, Office 365 and Munis. Prepares correspondence, emails, memos, letters, faxes, forms, and special reports as required.
  6. Processes part-time employees' payroll and associated payroll tasks. Serves as an assistant and backup to the full-time employee Payroll Compensation Processor.
  7. Checks and verifies payroll information for accuracy.
  8. Compiles data for inclusion in relatively complex statistical reports.
  9. Prepares spreadsheets pertaining to financial reporting.
  10. Maintains the Nutrition Center's operating statements and utilizes the City of Bridgeport computer accounting system.
  11. Other duties as assigned under the general direction of the Food and Nutrition Services Director.

Requirements:
  1. An Associate's degree is strongly preferred.
  2. Previous office and/or payroll-financial experience preferred, with at least two years' experience in a position that required minimal supervision and working independently.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management.
  5. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  6. The ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality.
  7. Knowledge of Board of Education programs, policies, and procedures.
  8. Demonstrated computer proficiency.
