The Career Counselor utilizes leadership, advocacy and collaboration to promote student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school career counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, personal and social development, and career and college planning.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
  • Deliver individual and group career planning curriculum supporting student development;
  • Analyze student data and develop data-driven programs for intervention action plans;
  • Provide responsive services to individuals or groups on academic, career and personal issues;
  • Provide an individual planning system to guide students toward post-secondary career work based, professional skills and career planning goals;
  • Assist students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities and benefits;
  • Provide a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents;
  • Support standardized, industry certification testing program; parent education; and staff development.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or related field of study AND
  • Three (3) years of experience advising, counseling or teaching OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate state School Guidance Counselor certification

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience coordinating career-oriented clubs and extracurricular activities
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Flexible schedule
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general ability to learn new technology tools quickly
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time including at least once per month within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in school activities, open houses and orientations
  • Ability to clear required background check

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology

  • This is a home-based position with travel required. Must live inOklahoma.
