Position Summary

The Director of Aftercare oversees the after-school program at Presbyterian School, a Pk3 through 8th grade school. The Director of Aftercare is responsible for the development and implementation of the School’s aftercare program, including coordination, registration and supervision of program offerings from both the school and outside providers. The Director of Aftercare is encouraged to discuss with leadership, opportunities for professional and social involvement with school and student activities.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the School’s Aftercare program
  • Identifies, organizes and administers providers and offerings for aftercare program
  • Establishes and implements all activities offered through the aftercare program, including stay-and-play and provider programs
  • Ensures the daily operation of the aftercare program is administered in compliance with School policy
  • Defines and implements expectations and policies for developmentally appropriate aftercare program, including course offerings, supervision and discipline for stay-and-play and provider programs
  • Manages and ensures effective communication between the School, families, students and providers regarding aftercare program
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of program offerings
  • Observes and evaluates faculty and staff
  • Oversees the Aftercare program division budget
  • Maintains roster and attendance records for students enrolled in aftercare
  • Reports rosters and records to accounting for billing purposes
  • Performs various other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • 2 plus years’ management experience in an aftercare or related program required, independent school preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A passion for working with Early Childhood, Lower School and Middle School aged children and an understanding for the unique ways that they learn and develop
  • A communication style that embraces transparency and tact, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to make members of the community including students, families and program providers feel safe, secure and well-cared-for while never compromising high standards and meaningful accountability
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Docs and Sheets or Microsoft equivalent
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interact with a professional demeanor with staff, general public, and school personnel
  • Effective prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure

Non-Physical Demands:

Change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working with others as part of a team, and irregular schedule may be required at times.
