GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Plumbing Trades Teacher provides instruction in all aspects of plumbing to high school students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist students in enhancing their skills in the areas necessary to seek employment in the plumbing/construction industry
• Integrate the instruction of basic skills into the career and technical curriculum
• Prepare students for entry-level employment into the plumbing/construction industry or for post-secondary study
• Assist students to be successful in career and technical education by monitoring their technical, basic skills, and placement records
• Train students where they can earn an industry certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Hold a valid journeyman plumber license or master plumbers license and a pertinent license and be eligible for the National Center for Constructional Education & Research (NCCER) or occupational license
• Must be willing to participate in continuing professional development
• Have the ability to supervise students in an plumbing/construction lab and on location at internships
• Have verifiable work experience outside of education
• Have the ability to improve and enhance the program based upon the skills that plumbing/construction industry employers are demanding
• Have the ability to develop partnerships with area employers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with appropriate endorsement
• Must have 3-5 years of work experience in the plumbing/construction industry
