SUMMARY
Under general supervision, maintains and adjusts MPS radio station KBEM musical format, in conjunction with the Station Manager & Program Director; keeps current with trends in jazz music, and maintains the music library; produces and hosts daily radio programming.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Generates music playlists for daily jazz programming hosted by students and staff.
• Maintains music scheduling software database/playlist of appropriate music for airplay; Prepares music logs for streaming content and reports to SoundExchange quarterly.
• Selects music which fits station format and listener demographics.
• Responds to listener inquiries about music via phone, email, and social media.
• Confers and communicates with promoters, labels, musicians, and other parties regarding music service.
• Reports airplay to industry trade publications.
• Writes reviews of music and artists for station newsletter and digital platforms; updates and writes content for social media channels.
• Uploads music and data as well as other programming to automation software.
• Works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on experience.
• Produces and presents on-air and after-hours programming; presents elements of daily drive time shift: music, traffic, weather, news, and assorted continuity.
• Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
• Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
• Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
• At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND four (4) years of radio broadcasting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:
• FCC guidelines, rules, and regulations governing telecommunications operations.
• Broadcasting equipment and software application packages used to schedule and store music.
• Techniques and protocols for researching online music databases.
• Principles of record keeping and records management.

Skill in:
• Recording, producing, editing, and broadcasting audio projects.
• Identifying music which meets station standards and listener demographics.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard office software.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office and radio station environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.
