General Description:

Under the supervision of the Safety and Security Director and the oversight of the Security Manager and Senior Security Administrators, the Access Control Point Controller ensures the Anglo-American school safety and security by conducting access and traffic control; building protection; vehicle inspections, implementing screening and emergency procedures at access points; proper school goods deliveries and removals, performing roving patrols, escorting and assisting visitors, and other duties as assigned. The Access Control Point Controller reports alarms to the immediate supervisor and, if necessary, to the police and fire department. Must be able to perform in adverse and stressful conditions. The Access Control Point Controller works in shifts, days off are provided on various days of the week in accordance with the variable schedule.

The Access Control Point Controller communicates effectively with proficiency in English and Russian. The Access Control Point Controller should embrace the AAS Mission, Vision, Core Values. Promotes the school and the services provided by the school in all words, actions and behaviors.

Reports to: Senior Administrator

Working days/year (plan): 40 hours a week

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Fluent in Russian; speak, Basic English- read and write in English (level B1 or B2), as determined by the external AAS testing provider.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Competent writing/reporting ability, interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Must be able to learn AAS security procedures and access policy
  • Must be eligible to receive a security clearance certification (provided by AAS)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior Security, Law Enforcement, or Military experience preferred
  • Previous experience working with expatriates and in demographically diverse organizations
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying heavy loads

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn, retain, and effectively utilize knowledge of the AAS access control policy and emergency procedures.
  • Proficient use of communications and emergency equipment (radios, phones, screening equipment, fire extinguishers, panic buttons, etc.)
  • Ability to use common technology applications (MicroSoft Suite, GoogleSuite, Email application, etc.) and to learn new technology and applications.
  • Multi-tasking skills.
  • Readily available to work flexible hours, night shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Adhere to the AAS Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all AAS employment policies and procedures as established in the handbooks and as published by the Administration

Core Duties:
  • Controls access to the School
  • Completes any pre-access control security screening
  • Confirms a person's identity by inspecting government-issued, valid, photo identification
  • Issues visitor ID badges and records the details of the badge issued
  • Conducts traffic control, building protection; vehicle inspections
  • Conducts regular roves of the School compound
  • Implements emergency procedures when necessary
  • Reacts to explosives, intruder, mob, fire and medical emergencies
  • Conducts security escort for specified contract individuals
  • Monitors operation of security and fire alarm equipment installed at the access control points
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Deliveries
  • Carries out security screening of the delivery agents and the delivery packages
  • Confirms the delivery type e.g. parcel, mail, food, commercial goods
  • Confirms the recipient and location within the building or site.
  • Verifies that the delivery type is permitted to that area by the access control policy
  • Verifies the identity of the delivery agent by inspecting government-issued, valid, photo identification
